Review: When I Stop Talking, You'll Know I'm Dead: Useful Stories from a Persuasive Man
When I Stop Talking, You’ll Know I’m Dead: Useful Stories from a Persuasive Man by Jerry Weintraub
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Out of all the biographies I have read in my life thus far, this one would have to be at the top of the list. Jerry Weintraub is the man behind The Ocean’s 11 series and The Karate Kid. He was the manager who brought back Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra . He was the first person to bring concerts to the stadium scene. When he boils down his success in life, it is all about relations and never getting comfortable with your work.
Throughout the book Weintraub inserts many anecdotes, stories and lessons for the reader. He emphasises living a life of constant learning, to always seek teachers however old you are and to let the other guy save face but to always keep score.
My three takeaways for this book are:
1. Relationships are everything.
2. Live a life full of continuous learning and challenges
3. You need to be where the action is!
