Love and marriage ....

Last weekend my wife (tee hee) and I exchanged vows and made a serious commitment to each other; i.e. marriage (‘we got married’ just does not sound apropos). It culminated months worth of planning and angst along with a lot of money spent resulting in a beautiful (and cold) ceremony as well as a long weekend spent with friends and family in Temecula, California.

I never realized how much time gets devoted into an event like this and now that I’m on the other side I now have a lot of time on my hands to catch-up on the things I have been deferring as well as focusing on my new life as a married man. In saying that there is still a lot of ‘post-production’ to focus on such as thank you letters.

Events like this demonstrate the love that family and friends have for you. To see both my family and my wife’s family get together and bond so quickly with ease is no surprise yet it makes me so happy to see it unfold over the days together. Also our friends all got along which helps.

One of the things I said to my wife when we became engaged was to enjoy the journey and not focus on enjoying just the destination. That would be my recommendation for anyone looking to do this. Many people have said to me that weddings come and go so make sure you enjoy the ride. We have certainly done that and furthermore we also ensured that everything that happened over the weekend was captured by video or via a camera. This way the experience can be relived whenever we want to.
