Learning something new ...
This morning I was up very early to play tennis with my wife before work. It is probably the fourth of fifth time we have played this year. Simply put, we are terrible!
It’s not a bad thing though. It makes you realize that you’re not good at everything and that you have to start somewhere. It made me think about a lot of colleagues and clients I work with who are learning and do not have the experience, the expertise or the know-how that I do in my field. Conversely there are aspects of my day to day role in which I am not the expert and I am still learning.
Speaking of learning, I recently read a book called A Short Guide to a Happy Life by Anne Quindlen which was a recommended book by James Clear. Here is a quick quote that I loved: “I’ve learned to love the journey, not a destination. I learned that this is not a dress rehearsal and that today is the only guarantee you get.”
Bottom line … we are getting tennis lessons and I’m booking them today … can’t wait!
